How Vocco makes money
Only from people who buy Pro. The free version is not paid for with your data: there are no ads, no data sales and no analytics SDKs in the app. Audio and transcripts stay on your Mac, so there is nothing to sell. The privacy policy lists what the app and the website do send.
Why mixed Chinese and English
Most dictation tools pick one language per dictation. People who work in Mandarin and English rarely stay in one: product names, code terms and whole clauses arrive in English in the middle of a Chinese sentence. Early versions of Vocco had the same problem. Whisper, pinned to Chinese, turned the English word "meeting" into Chinese characters. Measuring that properly led to the benchmark and to Qwen3 ASR as the default engine.
How the numbers are measured
Accuracy claims on this site come from our own runs on the public ASCEND corpus of Mandarin–English conversation, scored with mixed error rate. The benchmark page describes the method, lists the model builds and shows the cases each engine gets wrong.
