Privacy Policy

Effective August 11, 2026

Short version: your voice and your transcripts never leave your Mac, and the app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs and never reports how you use it. On this website and for optional model downloads we keep anonymous, cookie-free aggregate counts that identify no one. The only personal data we ever receive is the email you use at checkout.

What stays on your device

Audio is captured and transcribed entirely on your Mac by Apple's on-device speech engine. It is never uploaded anywhere, to us or anyone else.
Transcripts and dictation history are stored locally on your Mac. You can delete them at any time; we have no copy and no access.
Optional sign-in (Apple or Google) is verified locally on your device to personalize the app; we do not operate account servers and do not receive your profile data.

What we receive

Purchase details. Checkout is handled by Paddle.com Market Ltd, our merchant of record. We receive your email address and order details so we can deliver and support your license. Paddle processes your payment data under Paddle's privacy policy; we never see your card number.
License activation. Activating the app sends your license key and a device identifier to our license server to enforce the two-Mac limit. No dictation content is included. While you're signed in, the app also refreshes your trial and license status at launch; we record when your account last checked in and keep aggregate daily counts of active accounts.
Update checks. The app periodically asks our server for the latest version number. This request carries no personal data. We use these checks to keep an anonymous daily count of active installations and app versions: what we store is a one-way hash that cannot be traced back to you, deleted automatically after about three months. No IP address or device identifier is ever stored.
Model downloads. When you choose to install an optional speech model, the app asks our server where that model is currently hosted, so we can fix a broken download source without shipping an update. The request contains the model's name and nothing else — no device identifier, no account, no usage data — and we keep an anonymous count of how many times each model has been downloaded. Your audio and transcripts are never involved; the models themselves are fetched directly from public repositories.
Early-access list. If you leave your email on vocco.co, we use it only to send your founding-price link and launch announcement. Unsubscribe anytime; we never sell or share the list.
Website statistics. vocco.co uses Vercel Web Analytics, a cookie-free counter of aggregate page views (no cookies, no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking, no profile of you), and we count how many times the download link is clicked. Neither ties any of this to your identity, and none of it exists in the app itself.

What we don't do

No analytics or tracking SDKs in the app — ever.
No cookies and no tracking on this website; only the anonymous, aggregate counters described above.
No advertising, no data sales, no third-party sharing beyond Paddle as described above.

Retention and your rights

We keep order records as long as required for tax and support purposes, and early-access emails until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your data or export what we hold by emailing support@vocco.co, and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll post the update here with a new effective date.
